Newfound Hounds provide one-to-one home visits to help owners overcome different issues with their dogs. This may include basic training or further help with behavioural issues. These will be looked at through the use of positive techniques and only based on proven scientific principals.
Having studied for a number of years with both theoretical and practical experience this has resulted in gaining a distinction with Compass Education, Foundation of Canine Behaviour Management. This has earned me the title of MISAP. This means I am a full member of the International Society of Animal Professionals. I am also an accredited member of the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers (IMDT) having been assessed on a mixture of training and behavioural issues.
To gain further experience I also volunteer at the local rescue centre working with a variety of breeds. Although I am a firm believer in teaching owners how to train their own dogs to help build a stronger bond, rescue centres allow me to keep my practical skills in line.
Keeping up to date with current research as well as attending workshops and courses throughout the year is vital to ensure I am up to date with the latest training and scientific principles.
Personal experiences with overcoming my own dogs issues has been a real eye opener and something I am often able to relate to when clients contact me. This has given me a passion to educate people about the way dogs think. Sometimes the support and reassurance is all that’s needed to make a difference.
It’s through our own experiences that we should all stop and reflect on how dogs see the world. This will enable owners to realise that there is light at the end of the tunnel and their dream dog has always been there, it’s just learning to find him again.
Welcome to Newfound Hounds.
